There are SO many other names that could be given to this territory aside from the current combo of a foreign entity and a genocidal explorer. Throughout this piece, find new names. Some even retain the initialism “BC” and combine Indigenous and euro words. How’s that for political compromise? That’s more compromise and consultation than was given when the current name was bestowed upon the territory by Alexandrine Victoria Wettin (aka Queen Vic) in 1858.
