WRITE TO YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT!

Here’s some suggested wording for a letter (or grab a postcard by the artist and send it to your MP) …

I am a Canadian who is urging my Government to begin the process of removing a monarch (who resides in another country) as our head of state. While this constitutional process begins, we can start to remove those symbols of colonialism that serve no practical purpose. These symbols only ever served the ruling class and were never truly inclusive of the diverse people of Canada. We began to emerge with our own flag and with our own charter of rights and freedoms. Let’s continue that progress… by removing the flags of other countries from our own… by removing the faces of foreign monarchs from our money and stamps… by removing the useless position of governor-general and the doubly useless appendages of lieutenant-governors… by removing crowns and majesties from our system of law… by eliminating royalty from OUR constitution.

WE ARE CANADIANS:

WE DESERVE SYMBOLS THAT REPRESENT US!
